How to Determine and Renew Your Tourist License

If you own or manage a tourist rental property, knowing what type of tourist license you hold is crucial and whether it requires renewal. Failure to renew within the required time frame may lead to terminating your commercialization rights. Below is a guide to help you understand the different types of tourist licenses and their renewal requirements.

1. VT Licenses

VT (Vivienda Turística) licenses do not require renewal at any time.

2. Quality Accreditation Licenses (ETV) under Law 2/2005

These licenses were requested between March 31 and September 30, 2006, under the first transitional provision of Law 2/2005.

3. ETV Licenses under Law 8/2012 (Before Law 6/2017)

These licenses were requested between July 22, 2012, and July 31, 2017.

4. ETV Licenses under Law 6/2017 (After August 1, 2018)

These licenses were obtained through the Consorcio Bolsa de Alojamientos Turísticos (CBAT) and include various property types:

a) Single-family homes (excluding ETV/60)

b) Multi-family homes (ETVPL under Article 50.3 of Law 8/2012)

c) ETV/60 Licenses

Consorci Borsa d'Allotjaments Turístics The Consorcio Bolsa de Alojamientos Turísticos is a non-profit public entity under the Consell de Mallorca. It manages the tourism accommodation quota as per the current tourism law of the Balearic Islands.

The Consorcio sells or reserves tourist spots for tourism establishments or residential homes intended for tourism commercialization.

The revenue generated from this management is exclusively allocated to rehabilitating tourist areas, incentivizing the conversion of outdated tourist accommodations into social, cultural, educational, recreational, or sports projects, and directly or indirectly promoting activities that enhance the competitiveness, diversification, and seasonality reduction of Mallorca's tourism sector. It also develops projects to improve the quality of tourism offerings.
