If you’re visiting Mallorca this summer and planning a trip to the iconic Formentor Lighthouse (Far de Formentor), be aware that seasonal traffic restrictions will once again be in force, but with new 2026 dates and clarified rules.
To protect the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and to reduce the overwhelming number of summer visitors, the island authorities regulate access to the peninsula each year. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your visit in 2026.
Road: Ma-2210 (Port de Pollença → Formentor Lighthouse)
Closure period: 15 May 2026 – 15 October 2026
Daily restriction hours: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Outside these dates or hours, the road is open to all vehicles as usual.
Public transport (TIB Bus Line 334)
Alcúdia → Port de Pollença → Formentor Beach → Cala Murta/Cala Figuera → Lighthouse
Taxis, private hire vehicles (VTC)
– Taxis may go to the beach and the lighthouse.
– VTC vehicles can go as far as Formentor Beach.
Residents of the restricted area (with prior authorisation)
Vehicles carrying people with reduced mobility (authorisation required)
Service vehicles, rescue, emergency & law enforcement
Cyclists and hikers (always allowed)
Private cars
Private motorcycles
Trucks
Unauthorised access results in automatic fines, enforced by traffic cameras.
The easiest and most sustainable way to reach the lighthouse is via Bus 334, which stops at:
Mirador de Es Colomer
Formentor Beach
Cala Figuera / Cala Murta
Formentor Lighthouse (final stop)
No cash payments are accepted. Use a bank card or the Intermodal Card.
Full timetable & prices: www.tib.org
If you are arriving by car, you must park in Port de Pollença before the restricted area begins.
Parking is available along the Port de Pollença ring road service lanes, near the two bus stops:
Port de Pollença (42051)
Can Singala (42055)
From here, catch the 334 bus onward.
Those eligible for access must request permission at least 3 working days in advance via email:
This applies to:
Local residents
Vehicles transporting people with reduced mobility
Certain service categories permitted by law
Absolutely no private cars allowed between 10:00 and 22:00.
If you enter before 10:00 a.m., you must leave by 9:59 a.m.
Cameras enforce the restriction → Fines apply.
Limited access until the authorised parking spaces are full.
Once complete, only buses, taxis, cyclists, and authorised vehicles may continue.
Go early if you want to enjoy the viewpoints before busier hours.
Bring water & sun protection — services in the area are limited.
If visiting multiple viewpoints, consider hopping on/off the 334 bus.
Avoid driving into the restricted zone unless you have authorisation — the fines are significant.
